Golden Milk Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond or cashew milk)
  • 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 scoop Goode Health Vanilla Superfood Blend
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup yogurt (full-fat)
  • 2 eggs
  • Directions

    1. In a small saucepan, warm the milk until just barely simmering. Remove from the heat, whisk in the turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and black pepper and set aside to steep for 20 minutes.
    2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, almond flour, Goode Health Vanilla Superfood Blend, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    3. Add the yogurt and eggs to the spiced milk, whisking well to combine. Add the butter and brown sugar and mix.
    4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry, folding gently until evenly mixed with no dry spots remaining.
    5. Heat a waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Pour about ½ cup of batter into the waffle iron, and cook until golden, repeating with the remaining batter. Spray the iron with nonstick spray between batches as needed.
    Warm waffles, crisp on the edges and soft in the center, get an upgrade here with a slew of spices inspired by golden milk, the lightly sweetened turmeric-laced drink.
